The new house, made from concrete, with a solid roof and an indoor kitchen: a refuge for many.
House of Hope - An After-School Project Founded 2015
Named after a woman who at the end of her life lived in a sturdy and spacious house – a good place for educating local children and a refuge for many.
She and her husband raised 5 children with very little resources – and invited the founder of Reach Dalit in her heart and her home. One of her sons started a non-profit organization in India – he became a father to many. Over time the international supporter chipped in - and by 2018 the House of Hope operated independently from Reach Dalit.
The old house, mud walls, straw roof and an outside kitchen.
The lady of the house and one of her sons. Before 2015.
These children are falling behind in public school - because of their race. Their parents want to do better for them ... and an after school program was established.
